Dot Residential caught up with the brothers behind innovative houseware brand Joseph Joseph following a recent partnership that will see these practical, yet stylish products featured in all Dot apartments. We wanted to find out what inspired Antony and Richard and how the brand evolved…
“We grew up in a family with a long history of design and manufacturing. Originally set up by our grandfather in the 1930s, the family business specialised in the production of glass components and summers were spent working in the factory.
In 1999, having both trained in product design, we embarked on our early careers. As a sideline to our jobs, and with the support of our father, we utilised the capabilities of the factory in Birmingham to develop our own range of contemporary glass chopping boards.
After early success with our bold, colourful designs, our entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and, in 2003, the Joseph Joseph brand was born.
Glass chopping boards progressed to other innovative kitchenware products and this rapidly developed into a broader range of housewares. One simple observation quickly became a key foundation of the brand: tasks around the home could be made easier and more enjoyable with a little intelligent thinking.
A problem-solving approach, and the ability to combine it with a distinctive design aesthetic, let to the creation of some of our most iconic kitchenware making Joseph Joseph one of the world’s most progressive houseware brands.
Our products are built to engage you with distinctive designs, captivate you with functional benefits and assure you with high-quality materials and attention to detail.
Innovative design, contemporary styling and distinctive use of colour make us unique within the industry. Whilst most brands concentrate on one of these aspects, we focus on the entire user experience; products that work beautifully look good around the home.”
Since 2003, the brand has expanded into many product areas and continues to explore new houseware categories. What started with a simple glass chopping board evolved into one of the fastest-growing companies in the global housewares market. What’s your favourite product?
